Trent Edwards is cut from the Buffalo Bills. Thank goodness. I'm a Patriots' fan, but I know an awful Quarterback when I see one, and Edwards defines that. His inconsistency, pre-snap reading, and overall performance caused him to lose his job for the second straight season after two games. The numbers don't lie. In four seasons, he's amassed 25 touchdowns and 27 interceptions along with 5 fumbles and getting sacked 65 times. Edwards eats dirt 23 times in 14 games as a full time starter before injury in 2008. Another 23 sacks came in 7 games last season. A good quarterback sits in his pocket, but he also gets rid of the football. He was benched in favor for his backup, Ryan Fitzpatrick, fifth year player out of Harvard. He has been a journeyman.
Speaking of bad players and their inconsistency, a couple weeks ago Laurence Maroney was traded to the Denver Broncos where coach Josh McDaniels was a member of the Patriots' staff. The Pats move onward without him, but very quickly karma came on knocking. Kevin Faulk is out for the remainder of the season. However, it may be a blessing in disguise as Fred Taylor, Sammie Morris, Benjarvus Green-Ellis, and Danny Woodhead continue to pound the ball into opposing defenses.
As things are looking up for the New England Patriots, The Buffalo Bills always seem to rebuild and try to catch and return to playoff form as in the 90s with Jim Kelly and Andre Reed.
